This year, the fig harvest is starting very early. We are surprised at how quickly the beautiful Petrelli fruits have ripened and are already starting to harvest them at the beginning of July. To avoid the heat of the day, we start harvesting before sunrise. By the time the sun rises over the Adriatic Sea, the delicate figs have already been picked, sorted and carefully packed into boxes. The most beautiful ones are for fresh consumption, while the smaller ones are dried for preservation.
Our Petrelli figs
The Petrelli variety is a traditional Italian fig variety, known for its particularly large, sweet and juicy fruits. It grows mainly in Apulia and is characterised by its robust nature and aromatic flavour. Petrelli figs are perfect for eating straight from the tree, but are also ideal for use in jams and desserts.
Why organically grown figs are so valuable
By avoiding chemical additives, organically grown figs are not only healthier for humans, but also for the environment. They contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and maintain the natural balance in the landscape. Their delicate texture, full-bodied aroma and high quality make them a special treat that reflects the dedication and care with which they are grown.
In contrast, conventional figs are often treated with chemicals, which can leave residues on the skin. Organic figs, on the other hand, offer a piece of nature in its purest form. Consciously choosing organic figs not only contributes to protecting the environment, but also provides an incomparable taste experience that reflects the naturalness of the fruit.
